Troubleshooting the error: "Windows Live OneCare Antivirus could not start"
After your computer starts, you may receive the either of the following red action items from Windows Live OneCare:

Urgent
Contact Help Center
Windows Live OneCare Antivirus could not start.

Urgent
Contact Help Center
Windows Live OneCare Antivirus provider failed to load.

To resolve this issue:
  1. Click Start, and then click Search.
  2. Click All files or folders.
  3. In the All or part of the file name box, type WindowsXP-KB914811-v2-x86-ENU.exe, and then click Search.

    The file will be in either the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows OneCare Live\Staging folder or in a subfolder under the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows OneCare Live\Upgrade folder.

  4. Double-click the file named WindowsXP-KB914811-v2-x86-ENU.exe. This will install an update to Windows Live OneCare.
  5. When the update finishes, restart your computer.

Important

If you still receive the red action item, you'll have to uninstall and reinstall Windows Live OneCare. For more information, see Install or reinstall Windows Live OneCare.
