Windows Live OneCare Help Center
To start a program as an administrator
You can use this procedure when you want to run a program that requires Administrator
permissions, but you are currently logged in with a user account
that is not an administrator.
In Windows Explorer, hold the SHIFT key down as you right-click the program file for the program that you want to open (typically this is a file with an .exe extension).
- In the context menu that appears, click Run as.
- To log on using an Administrator account, click The following user.
- In User name and Password, type the Administrator account name and password that you want to use.
For more information on user accounts and performing administrative tasks in Windows, open Help and Support and type "User account permissions" into the Search box.
