Windows Live OneCare Help Center
How do I exclude a file from Antivirus monitoring and scans?
In general, you should not add files to your Windows Live OneCare Antivirus Exclusions list
. However, there might be occasions when Antivirus identifies a file as potentially infected with a virus even though it is not. If this happens, and you are certain that the file does not contain a virus (for example, by contacting the source person or organization for the file), then you can add it to your Antivirus Exclusions list. If you only suspect that the file is not really infected, however, you should contact Help Center before excluding the file.
To add a file to your Antivirus Exclusions list
On the left side of the Windows Live OneCare display, click View or change settings.
- On the Antivirus tab, click Antivirus Exclusions....
- In the Windows Live OneCare Antivirus Exclusions dialog box, click Add.
- Browse to the file you want to exclude, and then click OK. The file will appear in the Exclusions list.
- In the Windows Live OneCare Antivirus Exclusions dialog box, click OK.
Adding a file to the Antivirus Exclusions list might place you computer at risk of infection.
