What should I know about Quarantine?
When Windows Live OneCare Antivirus cannot clean an infected file, it determines the best action to take. In some cases, the best action is to place the file in Quarantine.
When a file is placed in Quarantine, its name is changed and other special restrictions are placed on it to prevent it from performing any actions that might harm the computer.
Typically, Antivirus will place a file in Quarantine for one of two reasons:
- If the infection could not be safely removed from the file.
- If the file is behaving like a virus but does not match the virus definition of a known virus.
If you are logged onto your computer as an Administrator, you can view and work with files that are in Quarantine from the Antivirus tab of Windows Live OneCare Settings. For more information, see Related Topics.
