Windows Live OneCare Help Center
How does Antivirus monitoring work?
Whenever you are logged on to your computer, Windows Live OneCare Antivirus monitors your files as you use them. Whenever a file opens, Antivirus checks the contents of the file for viruses according to the current virus definitions. Antivirus also watches for files and programs that act like viruses.
If Antivirus finds an infected file or a file that acts like a virus, Windows Live OneCare Antivirus prevents the file from doing anything that might harm your computer, and asks what you want to do with the file.
- Because new viruses come out all the time, it is important to keep your virus definition files up to date. Windows Live OneCare automatically updates these files when your computer is connected to the Internet.
- A pop-up window appears over or under your browser's main window when you visit some websites. Because a pop-up window is not a virus, Windows Live OneCare Antivirus will not remove or disable it.
